The PADI IDC Staff Instructor Course Red Sea gets under way!
Diane and PADI Course Director signed up for the PADI IDC Staff Instructor Course that ran alongside the PADI IDC hosted by Reef Oasis Dive Club in Sharm el Sheikh.
Diane had been putting off taking the Staff Course because she didn’t relish the thought of sitting through another PADI IDC. Although her original course was over 1o years ago. However she wanted to get some new ideas and wanted to “be a student” again after many years of teaching.
PADI Course Director, is the owner of Donkey Divers in Guernsey. He brought one of his PADI Divemasters along, so that both of them could pick up some new tips about teaching others.
PADI IDC Staff Instructor Course Red Sea – new ideas!
They were both hoping to find new and fresh ways to teach. What they didn’t expect, was that there would be such a refreshing and radical way that they could improve their courses.
It’s always PADI Staff Instructors that can immediately see the advantages to the teaching methods that I use. PADI Staff Instructors have the advantage that they have already taught many courses. As soon as I mention some of the new techniques that I teach, they can immediately see the benefit to both Student and Instructor.
Of course the PADI IDC Candidates can also see the sense in my methods, but they haven’t yet had the experience of teaching many courses.
Learning how to mark at PADI IDC Staff Instructor Course Red Sea
By teaching we learn!! this is such a true expression. First the PADI IDC Staff instructor candidates have to learn the importance of each and every component that is incorporated into all presentations. Then they can listen and watch as the PADI IDC Candidates teach in the class, pool and sea.
It’s surprising how much this practice can improve the teaching of the Staff Instructor. By learning how to score, and more importantly, learning how to give constructive feedback is a very effective way of improving their own performances.
